Homemade Dishwasher Detergent Recipe (Without Baking Soda)

Wondering how to make your own Non-Toxic Homemade Dishwasher Detergent?

I’ve tried several different brands at the store and they were leaving a white film on our glasses.

Considering all the toxic chemicals in those detergents, I definitely didn’t want to end up drinking any of the residues.

I hopped on the EWG site to see what ingredients were clean and safe.

There are tons of cleaner dishwashing detergent brands out there but with a family of 6, it’s so much cheaper to make our own.

With a few simple ingredients, I made enough dishwashing detergent to last a while.

I was very shocked after the first load of dishes to find sparkling clean glasses and silverware.

So far I’ve been extremely impressed with this recipe and wanted to share it because it’s such a simple DIY dishwasher detergent recipe.

After mixing up the ingredients listed below, simply store it in a glass or plastic container near the dishwasher and add 1 Tbsp. per load.

I used an old jelly jar we had laying around.

Sometimes I put white vinegar in the rinse dispenser also.

As far as the brands of ingredients, I used Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda and Relative Foods Organic Citric Acid.

The savings are enormous! The ingredients I bought make about 15 cups of powdered dishwasher detergent. That’s about 250 loads of dirty dishes!

The homemade dishwasher detergent recipe below is in a smaller ratio so it’s easier to mix and store.

I feel much more confident we are not eating on dishes with toxic chemicals and this DIY dishwashing detergent has my dishes so clean!
