United States: The United States witnessed hundreds of environmental events during this time, leading up to Earth Day on Tuesday, as climate and environmental groups increased their resistance to Trump’s administration and its “war on the planet” policies.
Earth Day Resistance Rises Across the US
Multiple groups, including national organizers and grassroots activists, have unified with pro-democracy organizations for the “All Out on Earth Day” series of actions targeted at attaining free and healthy lives.
The “Hands Off Migrants march” in lower Manhattan attracted thousands of participants united by half a hundred climate and migrant justice organizations who demanded Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) leave New York and for New York to abandon fossil fuel use.
The two movements merged when Trump started his immigration crackdown while intensifying his support for fossil fuels, which led to more climate collapse and enforced population transfers.

Environmental Rollbacks Face Growing Backlash
A Stop the Cuts march took place in Milwaukee that day, and Indivisible and 50501 members criticized Republican lawmakers for their support of historic budget cuts to healthcare and education services, as well as environmental protection and climate spending.
According to Renata Pumarol, the deputy director of the Climate Organizing Hub, which coordinated the New York march, “Trump is attacking migrants and the planet by aligning himself with big oil and eroding hard-won protections. Climate change is the leading cause of global displacement, these are connected issues,” the Guardian reported.
“As we fight the authoritarianism of Trump, climate groups need to be part of the resistance because we are all under threat,” Pumarol noted.
Trump, together with his wealthy backer Elon Musk, has accelerated the destruction of federal agencies overseeing clean air and drinking water programs as well as national forests while pursuing sweeping layoffs that targeted the National Weather Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Forest Service, as the Guardian reported.
Fossil fuel production standards and petrochemical plant standards, together with mining and industrial regulations, decreased at the same time Trump’s administration implemented its unprecedented border control measures and university and free speech suppression policies.
Trump reportedly intends to issue an executive order that strips tax-exempt features from certain climate groups, thereby endangering the existence of smaller grassroots organizations.
